Welcome to my first blog post! and what better to start a blog than to post about the two things that I am most passionate about; Music and Wonder! This post will be solely about my first Single WONDER that I released earlier this year. I worked on this song with my boyfriend Mark Flanders, We wrote the song together in his room, I wrote the lyrics and he wrote the music. The exact team I had always dreamt of as a little girl. I've been meaning to write this down and post from the day that I released the song, but I've been continuously distracted by the exact things that this song is not about! So here I am reminding myself of all the things I built my life on, while also sharing a message that I feel is so important for everyone to live by. So here goes;
"I promise to lose track of time, Every time we're together."
In life we need to remember how important it is to lose track of time. Lose focus on the things that aren't important and focus on the now. By all means let the important things be thought of and sorted out, but at the end of the day; just be.
"If it can be changed; don't stress If you can't change it; don't stress."
Spend time with those that you're with rather than stressing over things that will take care of themselves in time.
When Mark and I first started dating we would hang out and the time would always go so fast. I want it to always be like that, not worry about the other things around us, not worry about having to go to bed at a certain time and being tired the next day.. I want to truly enjoy the time that we are gifted together and not waste it worrying about the outside things.
"I promise not to lose my mind, everyday until forever."
This one kind of speaks for itself, I promise not to lose my mind. I promise not to stress my mind over the little things that don't matter, I promise to focus on what matters and grow in a healthy way rather than losing my mind on little things that don't and won't matter in time.
"I'll always relearn your heart, through every season we battle."
I know that we all face trials when it comes to relationships with partners, family or even friends. This line is a promise that when we face battles and our hearts are changed, I will relearn your heart and love you through it all. This year started off with a huge thing happening for both myself and Mark and it definitely changed the way we do things and see things, it changed us and through that our relationship became stronger. People often face things that could make or break a relationship, and I believe the mindset of relearning the way someone works every single day, is what keeps that as making rather than breaking. Facing life and all it throws at us together rather than individually. This line is a promise to always walk beside you, to relearn your goals as they change and to love you through it all.
"I promise to always grow, no matter the mountain tall."
When we are faced with battles in life we are faced with choices. To let it break you or make you. This line is a lot like the one above, This line is a promise that when we face trials together, I promise to always choose to let it make us. I'll always grow from lessons learnt, I promise to not give in when times get tough.
"They wanna teach you to balance, But I wanna learn how to fly."
This line comes down to all of the pressures of those outside of the relationship telling you how to be. "Get married", "Have kids", "Make money". For me, its not about all that. It's about being happy, It's about being genuine, loving who you are and how you live and loving those you spend time with. What's a marriage if you're not happy? What's parenting if you're unable to set a good example? What's a house without love? I want to one day get married and I'd love the gift of becoming a mother, but that will come in time. For now, I will love the moment and what I have now, I love and appreciate my family, friends and Mark. I love how we all are and don't need to give in to the pressures of being what I call "Paper perfect", my aim in life is to be Happy, whatever that may bring. That is what I believe brings our own kind of perfection.
"I know what it means to be humble, and it's what I'll take to the skies."
I know what it means to be humble and I'll take it to the end of my days and beyond. I think this one is straight forward swell, I am super blessed to be surrounded by people who I love and whom love me. I aim to be humble about what I have been gifted with and not belittle someone if they don't have that. I want my life to be an example of that.
"For this world is what we leave behind and I want nothing more than to leave no stone unturned."
Again, this world is what we leave behind, we want to leave a message for those after us. We want to leave them love and peace. We don't want to leave a message of hatred. In the context of relationships this one goes to my nieces and nephews and possible future children. I want to explore, I want to have a childlike heart, I want to experience life with the important people by my side and I want to leave this world knowing I've made an impact and left a legacy to never be forgotten.
"If the skies decide to roar; no matter the paths we take. I know I will never fall; Your composure will keep me safe."
This one goes to my parents, family and relationship. When times get rough, no matter the circumstance, I know I'll be safe and cared for because of who I've surrounded myself with in life. I know that some nights I might find I'm struggling, scared or stressed. I just need to lean on those that I have around me, and they will keep me safe. For me personally as I grew up my parents were the ones that kept me safe, now I have grown up and live side by side with Mark; he is who keeps me safe. And one day I will be this person for my nieces, nephews and if I am gifted with being a mother myself.
"You pushed me into the world, without you I wouldn't be this girl, You pushed me into the world."
This one is for Mark, he helped me view the world in a totally different light to what I had previously been shown. With constant adventure and love. He pushed me into the world and I don't mean "Earth" as such, but his world! Our world! We pushed each other into our own little world, and thats helped shape who I am today.
"You pushed me into the world, and as the daylight ceases I will have learnt; A life full of wonder is a wonderful life."
This is by far my favourite line of the whole song, and everything pushed into one. The most important message of the whole song is that "A life full of wonder is a wonderful life!" What is a life lived if it is lived without wonder? Wonder is a desire to know something, to feel curious. Its the feeling of amazement and admiration, caused by something beautiful, remarkable or unfamiliar. I bring that all back to a childlike heart. Children are always amazed, they're always learning, always exploring different things. I think that is something I have always admired in children. They have a way of always being happy. Even when everything is not going great, they seem to find something to keep their happiness the priority. We need to learn that from them. We need to find our way back to a childlike heart, we need to wonder again!
I could write so much more on my heart behind the lyrics of this song but I'd rather not bore you so I'll leave it at that.
