The Importance of Choice

Life is so full of choices, and to end up on the path you want; you must make sure your priorities are right. What are your choices you're facing? Where do your priorities lie? and will they lead you down a destructive path?

When you think about life, what we choose often comes down to what we put first. Subconsciously this could be ruining our future movements.

For instance, when you choose what to have for dinner, are you choosing because in that moment you'll enjoy it - even if an hours time you know you'll feel gross? Or are you choosing it because it'll fuel your body with nutrients and energy to take on the rest of the day. You see choices as simple as this don't necessarily mean you have to stop enjoying your day, or in this case food, but it does have a domino effect on how the rest of your day will turn out.

Those small decisions make a HUGE impact.

There's so many decisions we make each and every day.
And how we do the small things in life will show in how we go about the bigger things.

Think today, what habits have you developed that result in bad decisions that are no longer helping you in the long run. I've thought about a few below and I've been working through them over the last few months, the improvement is insane!

Snoozing your alarm for hours
vs
Getting out of bed on the first alarm.

When we "Snooze" the alarm, it's with every intention to get up when it goes off next. But good intentions aren't the only thing that gets you good results. It's immediate actions that will help you get those results.

Spending the first hour of your day on Facebook
vs
Spending an hour doing your skin care routine.

How many times have you said "There's just not enough hours in the day". Social media is extremely time hungry! It's an unnecessary and unhealthy pastime. I love my Instagram but I've realised how much happier I am if I limit my time on there. If you don't treat your Social Media accounts as if it's the morning newspaper then you'll gain that extra hour to do many more things that you claim to never have time for! Such as skin care! or reading that book you've been saying you'll read for the past 4 years... maybe even bring up a podcast, or go for a short walk and sit in your local coffee shop. All of this takes less than an hour, so tell me now, why do you scroll through Facebook for an hour every morning?

Staying home and binging Netflix shows you don't even like
VS
Going to your friend of 10 years' birthday dinner

We've all done it, we've all RSVP'd and said we'd be there and decided on the night that you just aren't in a "social mood". But when 10 other friends all pull out an hour before the party, would you rather be one of those that let your friend down? or would you rather be the friend that rocks up and has a great time? I know how important friends are for me, that I would sacrifice a little of my time so that they know I care and appreciate them. Trust me, it goes so far for your friend. And next time you have a party, those will be the friends that will cherish those nights and come every time. (sometimes things happen and you can't go every time, I understand that completely - that's when the decision needs to change and you need to organise a catch up with them another day, make up for it! Friendships need watering too.)

These are just some really simple examples of how a decision can change the course of your day, Every day we face a million decisions. And everyday can be life changing.

Choose Extraordinary over ordinary every day.

What will you decide for tomorrow?
